There’s plenty happening in the heart of Wollongong, with Keira Collective securing a second year of funding through the NSW Government’s Uptown Grant Program and announcing a new program of events and activations for the year ahead.
Delivered by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, the funding will support Keira Collective in bringing new energy to the Keira precinct, celebrating Wollongong’s night-time economy and shining a light on the city centre’s vibrant hospitality and entertainment scene.
Last year marked Keira Collective’s first round of Uptown funding, which helped drive collaboration between local businesses, increase awareness of the precinct and deliver an important advocacy win, with Wollongong City Council continuing its Outdoor Dining fee waiver.
“Last year was our first round of funding under the Uptown Grant Program, and we delivered an advocacy win with the Outdoor Dining fee waiver continued by Wollongong City Council. We also strengthened collaboration between local businesses and raised the awareness of Keira Collective with local consumers,” said Debra Murphy, District Coordinator of Keira Collective.
As one of 41 districts funded through Round 4 of the Uptown Grant Program, Keira Collective will build on this momentum with a new series of events designed to bring locals into the precinct and encourage people to experience everything Keira Street has to offer.
Meet us at the Keira Crawl
Kicking off the new program is Keira Crawl, a multi-venue experience taking place on 12 September, with 10 venues across two city blocks coming together for an afternoon of food, drinks, entertainment and experiences.
The event invites locals to explore the precinct one venue at a time, with ticket holders able to move between participating venues while enjoying great food, signature drinks, live entertainment and plenty of reasons to discover somewhere new.
More than just an afternoon out, Keira Crawl is a chance to see the Keira precinct from a different perspective and experience the variety of hospitality and entertainment on offer right in the heart of Wollongong.
And this is just the beginning.
With more events and activations planned throughout the year, Keira Collective is looking forward to bringing the community together, supporting local businesses and showcasing the energy of Wollongong’s city centre.
Stay tuned for more.
